Shir Vijay Malik

Vijay Malik is a distinguished Chemical Engineer and refinery industry veteran with nearly five decades of extensive experience in refinery projects, operations, commissioning, process safety, hydroprocessing technologies, and technical leadership During his professional career spanning about 48 years, he has been closely associated with greenfield refinery projects, refinery design and engineering coordination, commissioning and start-up leadership, operations and process optimization, Hydrogen Generation Units, Hydrocracker Units, Hydrotreater (HDT) Units, Vacuum Distillation Units (VDU), safety systems, operational excellence, and Learning Centre & Training and Development initiatives. He possesses extensive international exposure and has visited several countries for refinery project engineering, technology discussions, process design reviews, and collaboration with global Process Licensors and engineering organizations. 

Mr. Malik is widely recognized for his expertise in HAZOP Studies, Alarm Management Systems, Alarm Rationalization, Process Safety Management, Operational Risk Reduction, and refinery commissioning & start-up activities. He has facilitated numerous Alarm Rationalization and Process Safety workshops for leading organizations including Shell and Reliance Industries. Prior to retirement in 2019, he served as Senior Vice President at Reliance Industries – Jamnagar after contributing for 22 years to one of the world’s largest refinery complexes. Earlier, he spent about 17 years with Indian Oil Corporation in Vadodara across various executive and technical leadership positions. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (1977 Batch) and is presently based in Vadodara. Mr. Malik is highly respected for his outstanding contributions to refinery technology, hydroprocessing operations, commissioning excellence, process safety leadership, alarm management systems, capability development, and future-ready industrial excellence.
